While surfing the Internet I stumbled upon in the Facebook post of my friend Architect Ronald Buenaflor. In his post, he mentioned that there is an official directory of Philippine architects launched last year. The directory allows architects to have a “mini-portfolio” in which they can present their contact information, specialty, and major projects for potential clients to see online.
This list is free to use for all Filipino architects who are properly registered and licensed. I watched the tutorial that Arch. Buenaflor prepared and was able to include myself in the directory. It’s useful for Filipino architects because of the following reasons:
1. It's a way for clients to confirm your credentials. Since the directory is part of the official United Architect of the Philippines website and only a legal architect can create a directory entry, having your name listed in it is an easy way to confirm to your clients your legal status as an architect.
2. It boosts your online presence. With the world being ever more connected and online, architects need to increase their Internet presence more than ever. This directory allows you to improve your visibility in the online world.
3. It serves as a mini-portfolio for your career. Since the directory allows the posting of contact details, specialties, and major projects, it acts as a mini-portfolio of your works so that potential clients have a chance of seeing what your strengths are in the architecture industry.
In my case, I was able to include my specialty in healthcare facilities to my page, and added Tanchuling General Hospital as my main project (if you want to read about some of my work on that project you can read it here).
So, if you are a Registered and Licensed Architect here in the Philippines, I encourage you to include yourself in this directory as it is a great way to get your name out to potential clients. In the process, you also help our organization make the directory a useful information tool that can benefit many people.
