Why Space and Care?

Space and Care combines two different perspectives: one from designing spaces, the other from mothering. It covers our interests in art, architecture, healthcare, and family life.

Space and Care is also where you can find artworks that we create from what inspires us. We are self-taught artists using what we have learned from our different backgrounds. Below are our artist statements and short bios.

Richard Lasam

I draw geometric abstract patterns with ink fine liners. As an architect, I enjoy the creative drawing of lines, shapes, and volumes in orderly and symmetrical configurations. Using traditional architectural ink drafting techniques and design language, I apply my architectural mindset to Bristol paper to present the patterns that I envision in my mind. My work is a physical representation of what happens in an architect's mental landscape as one designs and iterates the creative process to achieve a new work.
