Gouache Painting: Girl with Flowers (and Her Kitten)
Gouache on watercolor paper. As a mother, writer, and artist, I like painting scenes that tell a little story.

This painting can stand on its own, but initially I created it as a partner to another painting (which I will write about in another post). The idea is that the two together can tell a little story or a slice of life, so to speak.
As you can see, the girl is about 3 to 4 years old. She is holding up a flower as if showing it to the viewer. In her other hand, she has a rose that is falling apart (perhaps because this girl has been playing for a while). She has a pet kitten who gets into whatever it is the little mistress is up to.
By itself I think it’s a funny scene, with the girl making a little ruckus with her cat. The viewer can fill in the story gaps: what probably happened before, what’s happening right now around her, and what is likely to happen later.
I made this painting with gouache paint on watercolor paper.
