Art Deco Geometrica: 90-Degree Regularity
This post is about how I came up with my pattern, called 90-Degree Regularity, for Art Deco Geometrica.

This is (admittedly) one of my simpler patterns. With only an 8 x 8 grid to work on, it really won’t be a complicated piece of work. I wanted to emphasize the rigidity of the square in this pattern—to show that all the angles in this one will be 90 degrees.
I was not really thinking of how this (below) will look once it is on a regular tile grid, so I did not quite expect the “fat cross” that came out of the tiling pattern, but I just accepted it as part of the surprises once the patterns are laid out like this (see above).

I am also kind of inspired currently by the color Ivory which gives the pattern a sort of 1930s vibe, in my opinion.

This specific pattern also works well on aprons and other apparel (apparently), since it has such a regular grid shape working for it.

As you can see, the hollow square and the fat cross elements actually complement each other quite well, with their interplay of solids and voids.
If you like this pattern and want to peruse more similar designs, you can support me by visiting my Adobe Stock contributor page, in which the iterations of the patterns can be found.
I also have a Print on Demand Shop over at Redbubble in case you would like to have a physical product, or perhaps you can visit my YouTube channel to see me draw these patterns.
The previous pattern I talked about, Pattern 2024.004, Double Cross Hatch, can be found here.
