Linea 01 is the first of a series of experiments that I am recently doing with the idea of asymmetry and lines. It can be described as an abstract geometric work focusing on the structure of lines in a constrained space. All of the lines in the artwork are either parallel or perpendicular to each other, letting the viewer’s eye follow any particular line as they see fit.
For this year, Linea 01 is my first non-symmetrical work. I was inspired by reading and researching on the works of Piet Mondrian, specifically Composition No. 2 1920, in which the lines have structure and form, but no symmetry.
The background patterns, however, are a symmetrical hatch to give a feeling of texture. This portion of the work actually took the longest to complete, and I liked that the hatch is not uniform, giving the work a human touch.
