Quadrata 05 is a work made of layered Bristol paper because I was investigating if layered paper might create a more sharp edge to the works I do with ink fine liners. The focus of this work is a 4 way symmetry that emphasizes the use of hatches and black elements to create pleasing abstractions.

As an architect, I find ordering shapes a mildly meditative activity. That's why I often draw squares and patterns. Much like design, the geometry of this work reflects my preference for creating order and regularity in the artworks I do.

This artwork has a heavy border, a hatched “middle,” and a central element focusing on a firm structure of lines and squares. The elements I integrated into this artwork have strong allusions to architectural drawing conventions, but they are not literal interpretations.
